Material Creation Workshop
In this beginning workshop you'll learn how to create killer stand-up material by focusing on:
- Finding authentic topics for your persona
- Writing cutting edge premises
- Getting rid of hack, been-done-before material
- Taking your jokes to the next level with mixes and killer act-outs
- Developing comparison jokes, list of three, and callbacks
This class teaches you to focus on the formula, finding your passion, and writing from your creativity, not your critic. Whether you’re a beginner with no stage time, or a comic who needs some new material – this class is for you.

You've got the material now you need to learn how to connect with an audience, improvise around your topic, get stage time, personal feedback and be able to think funny on your feet.
This class is designed to give you stage time - and lots of it. Each week you'll be working the jokes you developed in the Material Creation Workshop with a "Comedy Buddy" and master standup teacher, Cary Odes.

Writing and Performing Class Combo

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS ?

PURPOSE
The Advanced Comedy Workout is a space for experienced standup comics to create, perform, and showcase new material in a supportive, creative environment and expand their comedy careers. Enrollment in the workout is by audition or invitation only.
PERKS
The workout will be run by Cary Odes. Each month there will be a guest teacher. Guest teachers will be Industry professionals such as casting directors, headlining comics, managers, agents and also, teachers from other comedy fields.
Stretch your comedy muscles by participating in classes/talks that might include: Physical Comedy, Improv, Emceeing, Cruise Ship Entertaining, Auditioning, Booking Commercials, Cold Reading, Marketing, and Corporate Speaking

SHOWCASING
Students will have an opportunity to showcase every two months and will learn the ins-and-outs of producing showcases as well as doing longer sets. Students must not miss more than two classes per two-months cycle in order to showcase. Advanced students will also be asked to fill in at performance class showcases.

FEES
- $199 per month (2-month minimum)
- Get a 25% discount if you sign up for a 2nd consecutive 2-month session ($149 per month, 2-month minimum)
- After taking the class for 4 consecutive months, students are allowed to drop into any class for $35 per class
